In an effort to educate our parents and players about the college recruiting process we will have an informational meeting February 18th at 6:30 in the PV auditorium. Players and parents of all grades are welcome to attend. We will cover a wide range of topics and include a question and answer session afterwards as well as. If you have any questions or concerns you would like to have addressed feel free to email Coach Toblin and we will make sure we add it to our presentation.
Also Coach Garis has created the list below of tasks any player hoping to play college football needs to complete.

Recruiting Reminders
• All rising Junior & Senior athletes should register to take one of the two college admissions tests, either the SAT or ACT. Your athlete would be best served to have a test score before the start of Spring Football (April 25th, 2016).
o SAT Test Dates – https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/register/dates-deadlines
o ACT Test Dates – http://www.actstudent.org/regist/dates.html
o Helpful tip, those athletes with strong reading comprehension skills would be well served by taking SAT. Those athletes who are stronger in math and science would be better served to take the ACT. SAThttps://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat?navid=sat-sat
o ACT (No Writing) – http://www.actstudent.org/regist/

• The NCAA Clearinghouse is a process used by the NCAA to determine eligibility for the prospective student-athletes, and what the status would be for prospective schools. It is important to get a head start on this process as the NCAA has the movement of a snail.

• New Guidelines for eligibility can be found in this document below.
o http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/eligibility_center/Quick_Reference_Sheet.pdf

• No matter what level of athletics your student-athlete desires to play at there is a federal grant system designed to help offset the costs of the parent/guardian. Whether your child is on a full scholarship or 1% tuition paid, the FAFSA will help with your costs. The FAFSA is not a loan, it is gifted money from the government.
o FAFSA Application – https://fafsa.ed.gov/

I hope these guidelines serve you well, and remember that the Sharks’ coaching staff does all of their labor free of charge, please be weary of those who may come to you seeking a fee to get your child recruited. We will do everything in our power to see that your child reaches the next level if that is what he so desires. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at any time.
